NewRocket Launches Specialized Advisory Services Offering to Help Clients Address New SEC Cyber Risk Management and Incident Disclosure Mandate

"It has never been more important for organizations to have an effective and efficient cybersecurity and cyber risk program. Companies are dealing with a constantly changing threat landscape, ever-shifting attack surface, and increasing regulatory pressure," said Melissa Cohoe, Global Security, Risk & Resilience Strategist at NewRocket. "Failure to comply with the mandate could result in lawsuits from investors, SEC enforcement actions, and significant damage to a company's reputation. Moreover, companies who experience a material breach with a poor disclosure risk impact their brand and reputation, stock price, and financial performance. NewRocket is committed to helping our clients leverage leading-edge technology platforms like ServiceNow best to get the most value from their cybersecurity and cyber risk programs."

ServiceNow Elite Partner announces offering designed to guide enterprise leaders through impending cyber risk mandate change

Vista, Calif. — October 10, 2023 — NewRocket, the go-to ServiceNow guide for global enterprise leaders, today announces a specialized Advisory Services offering designed to help global enterprise leaders navigate the recent regulations put forth by the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding cyber risk management – the Cybersecurity and Cyber Risk Gap Assessment.

Designed to help organizations demonstrate compliance with new cybersecurity regulations, NewRocket's Cybersecurity and Cyber Risk Gap Assessment enables enterprise leaders to build better cybersecurity and cyber risk programs to keep their organizations more resilient and protected in the face of constant threats.

In late July 2023, the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) voted to enact new regulations concerning cybersecurity.

The regulations now require public companies and foreign private issuers to disclose the following:

  • Cyber incidents with a material impact or are likely to have a material impact within four days.
  • Their annual processes, if any, for assessing, identifying, and managing cyber security risks and threats.
  • Any material risks that have affected or reasonably could affect the organization, and how.
  • The role of the board and management in overseeing cybersecurity governance.

The rules intend to provide investors with timely and consistent information to help them make informed investment decisions. By increasing scrutiny, these regulations also enforce the adoption of strong cybersecurity and cyber-risk best practices.

An impending concern for many organizations, compliance with these regulations will necessitate an annual cybersecurity disclosure for registrants with fiscal years commencing on or after December 15, 2023. Material incident disclosures will start shortly after, on December 18.

"It has never been more important for organizations to have an effective and efficient cybersecurity and cyber risk program. Companies are dealing with a constantly changing threat landscape, ever-shifting attack surface, and increasing regulatory pressure," said Melissa Cohoe, Global Security, Risk & Resilience Strategist at NewRocket." "Failure to comply with the new SEC mandate could result in lawsuits from investors, SEC enforcement actions, and significant damage to a company's reputation. Companies who experience a material breach with a poor disclosure risk impact their brand and reputation, stock price, and financial performance. NewRocket is committed to helping our clients leverage leading-edge technology platforms like ServiceNow best to get the most value from their cybersecurity and cyber risk programs."
